Parks & Recreation
The Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department offers many leisure time activities for all ages year round. Residents age two and up can enroll in classes offered in a wide range of subjects. Classes include crafts, cooking, sports (for all ages) and ballroom dancing just to name a few. Park & Rec facilities include two community centers, one recreation center, a senior center, three municipal swimming pools and twenty park location, including a dedicated skateboard park and a dog park.
Education
There are two school districts in the Towne of Gilbert.
Gilbert School District
The Gilbert School District consists of 26 elementary schools, 6 Jr. high and 4 high schools. Twenty seven of these schools have received the state’s highest Excelling School ranking, making Gilbert one of the best school districts in the state.
Higley School District
The Higley Unified School District consists of 8 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 2 high schools. Most of these schools have received the state’s Highly Performing ranking. Due to growth in the area, the district has been growing. Williams Field High opened in the fall of 2008 and a new elementary school will be opening for the 2009/2010 school year.
